The Kaleidoscope Real World Video Challenge was launched in 2007 to give young Canadians the opportunity to showcase their views on global issues that relate to international development. Each year, youth ages 8 - 18 are invited to participate by making a short video with entries judged in two categories.

In 2008, 90 videos were submitted nationally and 13 of these were from Manitoba. Regional winners included the video “It’s in the Bag” by Cecil Rhodes School in Winnipeg and “Global Water Shortages” by Margaret Babour Collegiate in the The Pas. The National Gala was held in Ottawa on September 26, 2008.
