MCIC works every day with Manitobans who want to build a better world. One of our priorities is to connect with youth, bringing them into the discussion of major international development issues.
MCIC’s Generating Momentum for Our World conferences engage students from around the province on relevant international development themes such as water, food security and the Millennium Development Goals.
The Move Your World Theatre Project uses the power of theatre to engage Middle Years students on major global issues. In 2008, MCIC toured two productions to over 60 communities throughout the province; The Prince of Paupers and You, In the Shadow.
In 2009, MCIC created a Global Citizenship Award to recognize graduating high school students for their outstanding local and global commitments to social justice.
The Kaleidoscope Real World Challenge is a video contest where students have the opportunity to voice their opinions on international development issues through the use of film.
MCIC strives to engage youth on fair trade initiatives. Visit the Fair Trade Manitoba website to learn about the benefits of fair trade and how your school could ‘Go Fair Trade’ to support farmers and producers in developing countries.
