Teachers In Action

MCIC works with many teachers around Manitoba to bring global issues into the classroom. Here are some examples of teachers who help their students to think and act like global citizens. Tell us about what you’re doing in the classroom to promote global issues by emailing us at info@mcic.ca.

  • Ainsley Frederickson

MCIC first worked with Ainsley in 2007/08 when she brought a group of grade 7 students to the Generating Momentum for Our World conference called “Trading Place: Putting the Poor First in Global Relations” in Gimli, MB. Since then she’s been an enthusiastic supporter of fair trade. At Balmoral School where Ainsley is a multi-level teacher she has helped the school go fair trade, so now only fair trade coffee and tea are served in the teacher’s staff room! Ainsley also brought her class to the Generating Momentum for Our World: Water for All conference in Gimli in 2009.

Ainsley was a presenter at MCIC’s 2009 Annual General Meeting where she spoke about the impact of MCIC programs on herself and her students. Photo by Dustin Leader.
