One of MCIC’s priorities is to engage youth in Manitoba, bringing them into the discussion of major world issues and connecting them with the resources and information they need to take action. MCIC works closely with teachers to promote global citizenship at the school level through programming, workshops and the sharing of information.
MCIC’s Generating Momentum for Our World conferences engage students from around the province on relevant international development themes. Teachers can get information and register for upcoming conferences through the Generating Momentum website.
MCIC has created a Global Citizenship Award to recognize graduating high school students for their outstanding local and global initiative and commitment to global issues. Teachers are welcome to nominate a student from their school.
MCIC distributes a Global Students/Global Citizens newsletter to teachers, informing them of learning opportunities for themselves and their students.
MCIC offers several educational resources for teachers, including games and classroom workshops.
The Move Your World Theatre Project uses the power of theatre to engage Middle Years students on major global issues. In 2008, MCIC toured two productions to over 60 communities throughout the province; The Prince of Paupers and You, In the Shadow.
