  • Sustainable Canola Production in the Peruvian Highlands

    Fund: Development Fund | Country: Peru | Amount: $11,275 | Funded in 2008/2009

    This project supports production of canola in Peru, as well as the processing of canola into edible oil, bio-fuel and waste by-product feedstuffs for the benefit of one of the poorest and most vulnerable populations in the country. This project benefits 100 farm families for a total of 700 beneficiaries.

  • Strengthening Entrepreneurship…of People with Disabilities

    Fund: Development Fund | Country: Philippines | Amount: $16,602 | Funded in 2009/2010

    The Management and Governance of Worker Co-ops of Persons with Disabilities project promotes decent and productive work with differently abled men and women in the growth and development of sustainable micro enterprises. Capacity building is provided to targeted individuals through new business development, management and entrepreneurship support and networking.

  • Economic Growth and Food Security Project

    Fund: Development Fund | Country: Colombia | Amount: $17,897 | Funded in 2010/2011

    CDF’s Economic Growth and Food Security Project in Colombia will help farmers to plan and grow substitute crops for coca using market analysis, business planning and co-operative development.

  • Support to Rehabilitation and Recovery of Typhoon Washi-Affected Micro-Insurance Members

    Fund: Relief and Rehabilitation Fund | Country: Philippines | Amount: $20,000 | Funded in 2011/2012

    CDF is providing Support to Rehabilitation and Recovery of Typhoon Washi-Affected Micro-Insurance Members via revolving loan funds, staff support and relocation, and re-start operations where people’s financial organizations have been severely affected by Typhoon Washi.

  • Sustainable Microfinance Services & Micro- Enterprise Promotion through Women-Managed Cooperatives

    Fund: Development Fund | Country: Nepal | Amount: $15,332 | Funded in 2011/2012

    This community economic development project, Sustainable Microfinance Services & Micro- Enterprise Promotion through Women-Managed Cooperative Societies, will increase women’s access to sustainable financial services, thus decreasing economic vulnerability and poverty in Nepal.

  • Co-operative Agricultural Growth

    Fund: Development Fund | Country: Rwanda | Amount: $17,509 | Funded in 2012/2013

    The Co-operative Agricultural Growth project in Rwanda seeks to improve the agricultural production, productivity and marketing capacity of 15 co-operatives and their members in vulnerable, food insecure communities in two provinces (7 districts) of Rwanda.

  • CDF Philippines Relief: Typhoon Haiyan

    Fund: Relief and Rehabilitation Fund | Country: Philippines | Amount: $30000 | Funded in 2013-14

    This project will support a federation of worker co-operatives for persons with disabilities which suffered damage to their facilities and equipment, and where members lost their homes and even their communities. These victims of Typhoon Haiyan, from three different co-ops, will be able to soon rebuild their homes and return to their livelihoods. Fourty-one member beneficiaries and their families (5 people/family) will receive direct assistance, including temporary shelter, relief goods and medicine, counseling, living allowance and repair of their houses within one year of the typhoon. One hundred fiftyfive member beneficiaries and their families (5/family) will receive indirect assistance through the rebuilding of their worker co-operative building and replacement of manufacturing tools and equipment within one year of the typhoon.

  • Climate Resiliance and Co-operatives in Ethiopia

    Fund: Development Fund | Country: Ethiopia | Amount: $18642 | Funded in 2013-14

    Working with two local natural resource associations, Ethio-Wetlands Natural Resources Association (EWNRA) and Self Help Africa (SHA), the project aims to help 12,000 resource-poor farmers learn environmentally friendly techniques to increase their economic, social and ecological resilience to climate change.

  • Stabilizing Food Security and Enhancing Livelihoods

    Fund: Development Fund | Country: Tanzania | Amount: $7532 | Funded in 2013-14

    This project enhances the resilience of vulnerable households in Zimbabwe through integrated programming that stabilizes food security, enhances their asset base, and strengthens the capacity of SAFIRE to meet the needs of 6,000 vulnerable men, women, and children, including those affected by HIV/ AIDS.

  • Food Security through Co-operatives in Northern Ghana

    Fund: Development Fund | Country: Ghana | Amount: $22,436 | Funded in 2014-15

    The project goal is to increase sustainable, gender equitable food security for over 42,000 small holder farmers in 8 districts of Northern Ghana. It hopes to build the capacity of the farmers as members of agricultural co-operatives and credit unions by providing technical assistance, entrepreneurship training and microfinance products available only for women.
