    In Support of a More Literate Environment, this project will provide local children, their families and communities with literacy skills for a brighter future. The goal is to ensure development through education that empowers children to learn.

  • Children’s Book Project

    Fund: Development Fund | Country: Tanzania | Amount: $8,280 | Funded in 2010/2011

    The Children’s Book Project will provide Tanzanian children with a sustainable learning environment and ensure development through education that empowers children to learn. This will ultimately result in a brighter future for children, their families and the community as a whole.

  • In Support of a More Literate Environment

    Fund: Theme Fund | Country: Ethiopia | Amount: $10,000 | Funded in 2010/2011

    CODE is working In Support of a More Literate Environment, providing children’s learning materials, strengthening resource and education networks, implementing librarianship training to 20 reading room attendants, and offering teacher training to 54 other attendants. 33,000 children in 33 districts will benefit from this project.

  • Children’s Book Project of Tanzania

    CODE is supporting the Children’s Book Project of Tanzania, which aims to improve literacy and learning outcomes, by providing children and youth with much-needed books and learning materials, as well as professional development opportunities for teachers and librarians.

  • Reading Tanzania

    Fund: Development Fund | Country: Tanzania | Amount: $7,684 | Funded in 2012/2013

    Through the project Reading Tanzania CODE and its local partner, the Children’s Book Project for Tanzania, are working to support literacy and quality education in Tanzania by providing children and youth with books and learning materials, professional development for teachers and librarians, and by building the capacity of the local publishing industry.

  • Reading CODE

    Fund: Development Fund | Country: Tanzania | Amount: $7589 | Funded in 2013-14

    Together with its partner the Children’s Book Project for Tanzania, CODE is working to advance literacy in Tanzania by giving children access to high quality books, providing professional development for educators, and building the capacity of the local publishing industry. CODE is empowering children to unleash their full potential by bringing the magic of literacy to thousands of children.

  • Reading CODE

    Fund: Development Fund | Country: Ethiopia, Ghana, Mali, Tanzania | Amount: $7,573 | Funded in 2014-15

    The project seeks to provide professional development to 800 teachers and librarians in Ethiopia, Ghana, Mali and Tanzania through a literacy and education training program. It aims to enable the teachers to use childcentered learning methodologies to reach over 300,000 students.
