Strengthening Strategic Action Groups

CLWR is Strengthening Strategic Action Groups in rural India. 170 communities are benefiting from training group leaders and members in gender equity, leadership, legal issues, business management and income generation, resulting in improved food security, sanitation and health. There is also a micro-enterprise component to this project.

Bihar Floods Appeal
Fund: Relief and Rehabilitation Fund | Country: India | Amount: $25,000 | Funded in 2008/2009
The focus of the project was on responding to the immediate needs of people affected by flooding in the Bihar State of India. The main goal was the provision of emergency supplies to families in relief camps. MCIC funding was requested for the provision of water purification supplies, temporary shelter materials, blankets and family kits.
This project was part of $50,000 received from the Government of Manitoba, designated specifically to respond to flooding in the Bihar region of India.

Strengthening Democratic Processes
Fund: Development Fund | Country: India | Amount: $22,809 | Funded in 2008/2009
In 107 beneficiary communities, this project oversees the training of Strategic Action Groups (SAGs) (Women: 48%; Men: 52%) leaders and members in gender equity, leadership, legal issues and business management and vocational training for development of credit and income generation opportunities.
