Manitoba youth who are interested in the following are encouraged to apply:
- spoken word
- social justice
Youth who are interested in filming, technology, photography and video are also encouraged to apply to be a part of this online event.
Interested individuals should complete the application linked below. Please note, no experience is necessary but applicants are welcome to showcase any written work or online work (blog, YouTube, gallery, etc.) in the application.
As the sessions will be taking place remotely, applicants from rural communities in Manitoba are encouraged to participate. You need an internet connection capable of supporting video calling to participate in Voices for Change @ Home.
Project session dates will be set in accordance with the schedules of the successful applicants. The project will consist of 5-6 half-day sessions for a total time commitment of 20-25 hours. These session will take place between May 19th and 29th.
Voices for Change @ Home is an outlet for youth voices, bringing awareness to important issues through a creative platform. Throughout the sessions, participants will explore international development and issues surrounding global health and wellbeing, as well as the intersectional effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The sessions will be led by MCIC staff and Steve Locke, a Winnipeg-based spoken word artist. Steve has led many Voices for Change programs with MCIC in the past, including our Voices for Change 2020 that debuted at International Development Week 2020.
