Osu Children’s Library Fund Wins International Award

Posted April 7th 2010

MCIC would like to congratulate its long time member The Osu Children’s Library Fund, which was selected as one of two winners of the 2010 IBBY-Asahi Reading Promotion Award.

The award will be presented this September at the 32nd IBBY Congress in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Osu Children’s Library Fund Director Kathy Knowles and Joanna Felih, the organization’s first librarian, have been asked to attend the award ceremony.

The Osu Children’s Library Fund consists of two teams, one in Canada and the other in Africa, that share the mission of bringing books and literacy skills to African children and adults. The organization works at the grassroots level, seeking support and participation of elders and members of the host community.
