Celebrate Canada’s Gender Equality Week
Posted September 11th 2020
Walk the Talk offers Manitobans an opportunity to engage in and discuss topics related to international issues and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This is a discussion series where participants engage in conversation with other citizens who think globally.
Our September Walk the Talk event will take place in Gimli, Manitoba on September 22 from 7 pm – 8 pm, during Canada’s Gender Equality Week. Discussion topics will focus on improving conditions for women and girls in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, and on empowering women and girls locally and internationally. We will be observing any current Manitoba Public Health recommendations. Masks are mandatory.
Stay tuned for more information on our Walk the Talk event in Winnipeg on October 27, 2020.
Join us for another edition of Local Brews + Global Views — this time, for a conversation with Catherine Fortin-Lauzier of Cuso International, an organization that works to solve problems, implement solutions and work towards eradicating poverty and inequality, one community at a time.
Catherine will share about Cuso’s project in Ethiopia promoting access to higher education for high school girls, and the challenges girls face in continuing their education. We’ll discuss how the U-GIRLS 2 program is promoting success and perseverance in girl’s studies, with the support of their families and communities.
Bring your coffee & questions and join us for another “from home” edition of Local Brews + Global Views, as Catherine leads this important discussion during Gender Equality Week.
