Manitobans care deeply about what is happening in the Gaza Strip in Palestine and Israel, and many of MCIC’s members are actively working to respond to the current humanitarian disaster in Palestine.

In addition to supporting the humanitarian response, MCIC adds its voice to the call for:

  • an immediate ceasefire
  • ensure unrestricted humanitarian access
  • ensure the protection of civilians as well as humanitarian personnel
  • immediate release of all hostages.

As the humanitarian crisis in Gaza intensifies, many MCIC members are involved in international efforts to provide life-saving medical care and basic needs such as food and water to the over two million civilians living there. Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors without Borders and UNICEF are both working in Gaza to provide emergency medical care and aid. Many members are coordinating efforts as part of the Humanitarian Coalition, including nine as members of the Canadian Foodgrains Bank. Donations to the Humanitarian Coalition made before November 12 will be matched by the Government of Canada, up to $10 million.
