MCIC’s 2009 Annual General Meeting (AGM) took place on Tuesday June 9 at the Manitoba Legislature. The meeting, which marked MCIC’s 35th Anniversary, was themed ‘Looking Back and Moving Forward - 35 Years of MCIC’.

Panel speakers included: Jerry Jerrett, MCIC’s first President; Marilee Geller, past MCIC President and current Executive Assistant; and Bill Gillis, United Church of Canada. MCIC also invited teachers Jeff Sinnock and Ainsley Frederickson, as well as student Sydney Tyerman to speak about their experiences with MCIC’s public engagement programming. International guests included Gustavo Diez de Medina, Director of Foncresol in Bolivia and Antoinette Fall Correa, Executive Director of Bibliothèque Lecture Développement in Sénégal.

The Paul LeJeune Volunteer Service Award was presented to Robert Granke.

The AGM was held in conjunction with the launch of MCIC’s Global Citizens: Manitobans Working Together for a Better World exhibit which is currently touring the province.
