Annual General Meeting
MCIC’s 2010 Annual General Meeting (AGM) took place on Thursday June 17 at the Canadian Mennonite University.
The guest speaker was Gerry Barr, President/CEO of the Canadian Council for International Cooperation (CCIC), who spoke on ‘The State of the International Development Sector’. Mr. Barr is a Member of the Order of Canada. He was awarded the Pearson Peace Medal in 1996 for his personal contribution to aid to the developing world, mediation in conflict, and peaceful change through international cooperation. He is also the co-chair of Make Poverty History (Canada).
The meeting also included an overview of MCIC programming and outreach.
The Paul LeJeune Volunteer Service Award was presented to Thomas Novak and Reena Kreindler. Both have facilitated theatre workshops for MCIC’s High School and Middle Years conferences. In 2006, they worked on MCIC’s African Theatre Project with 8 young women from Africa - assisting them to develop a play about the MDGs in Africa.
