Students Make Their Voice Heard
Released on November 8th 2011
The Interlake School Division, in collaboration with the Manitoba Council for International Cooperation, is hosting the Generating Momentum for Our World: Student Voice Workshop in Stonewall on Wednesday, November 9. Seventy-one students from Warren Collegiate, Stonewall Collegiate and Teulon Collegiate will be getting together at the Oak Hammock Marsh Centre to learn how they can make their schools and communities more inclusive though active citizenship.
The purpose of the workshop is to encourage the students to consider how some groups in their schools and society may be excluded, and how the students themselves can take action as young leaders to promote inclusion and acceptance.
In the morning, the students will focus on skills building through three circuit sessions: public speaking, leadership and planning and promoting. In the afternoon, students will participate in creative workshops on digital photography, spoken word, theatre, video and silkscreening.
Media are encouraged to stop by around 10:30am for ideal photo opportunities.
