  • Poll results show two-thirds of Manitobans are willing to pay more for Fair Trade products

    Released on May 2nd 2012

    A new poll by Probe Research Inc. indicates that nearly two-thirds (64%) of Manitobans said they would be inclined to purchase fair trade goods, even if they cost more than competing products. The full results of this survey will be revealed on Thursday, May 3, as part of the launch of Fair Trade Fortnight 2012. (read more)

  • Students “Go Fair Trade”

    The Manitoba Council for International Cooperation is bringing its annual Generating Momentum for Our World: Go Fair Trade Middle Years Conference to Gimli on Wednesday, March 14. Fifty-two students from seven schools in the Evergreen, Frontier, Interlake, Lord Selkirk and Sunrise school divisions will be getting together at the New Iceland Heritage Museum to learn about the benefits of Fair Trade for the producers in our world.   • Manitobans Take the Fair Trade One-Month Challenge

    Winnipeg, MB. - The Manitoba Council for International Cooperation (MCIC) presents its One-Month Challenge, where people throughout the province pledge to consume only Fair Trade coffee, tea and chocolate for thirty days, beginning Valentine’s Day. Thousands of Manitobans have already taken the challenge in previous years by pledging their commitment and getting friends and colleagues to sign on as well, demonstrating support for producers in the developing world.   • Manitobans Active In Empowering Women and Girls Internationally

    The Manitoba Council for International Cooperation (MCIC) will launch International Development Week 2012 in the Rotunda at the Manitoba Legislature on February 8 at 11:45am. MCIC has produced nine video profiles of people from Manitoba whose work in the field of international development is setting an example for Manitobans, which will be played at the launch. The Honourable Greg Selinger, Premier of Manitoba will also address the audience to underline the importance of the Empowerment of Women and Girls internationally. (read more)

    As Manitoba gets ready to celebrate International Development Week (February 5-11, 2012), the Manitoba Council for International Cooperation is bringing its annual Generating Momentum for Our World: Go Fair Trade Middle Years Conference to Minnedosa on Wednesday, February 1. Fifty-one students from nine schools in the Beautiful Plains, Park West, Pine Creek and Rolling River school divisions will be getting together at the Minnedosa Community Conference Centre to learn about the benefits of Fair Trade for the producers in our world.
