The Interlake School Division, in collaboration with the Manitoba Council for International Cooperation, is hosting the Generating Momentum for Our World: Student Voice Workshop in Stonewall on Wednesday, November 9. Seventy-one students from Warren Collegiate, Stonewall Collegiate and Teulon Collegiate will be getting together at the Oak Hammock Marsh Centre to learn how they can make their schools and communities more inclusive though active citizenship. As more Fair Trade products are available throughout the province, the Manitoba Council for International Cooperation is kicking off its annual Generating Momentum for Our World: Go Fair Trade Middle Years Conference in Beausejour on Wednesday, November 2. Sixty-one students from ten schools in the Hanover, Seine River, Sunrise and Whiteshell school divisions will be getting together at the Sun Gro Centre to learn about the benefits of Fair Trade for the producers in our world. Winnipeg’s annual Global Justice Film Festival returns for its ninth year, bringing films and documentaries, all focused on the theme of Hope For a Just World, to Manitoban audiences.
This year’s program kicks off on Friday, November 4 at 7:00pm at the Winnipeg Art Gallery with Qapirangajuq: Inuit Knowledge and Climate Change, a profound and unforgettable documentary which premiered at Toronto’s imagineNATIVE Film Festival in October 2010. Dr. Ian Mauro, one of the directors and a former Manitoban, will join the audience after the showing via Skype for a Question and Answer session. Saturday, November 5, starting at 9:00am, more Canadian and international films will be shown at the University of Winnipeg. (read more)

Fifty-one middle years students will be at the Strathclair Municipal Hall on Wednesday March 9, 2011 to learn about gender equality in education around the world. The Manitoba Council for International Cooperation (MCIC) is organizing its annual Generating Momentum Middle Years Conference in Strathclair - the final conference in a series of six throughout Manitoba.
The purpose of the Generating Momentum for Our World – Making the Grade: Girls and Boys in the Global Classroom conferences is to get youth informed and encourage them to take action when they return to their schools and communities. (read more)
