  • Students work toward “Food For All”

    The Manitoba Council for International Cooperation (MCIC) will bring its annual Generating Momentum for Our World: Food For All Middle Years Conference to Virden for the very first time on Thursday March 14, 2013. Twenty five students from three schools in the Park West and Southwestern Horizon school divisions will be attending a one-day conference at the Virden Parks and Recreation Facility to explore issues around Food Security in our world.   • Manitoba’s First Ever Carrotmob

    Fair Trade Manitoba is excited to announce that the worldwide phenomenon of Carrotmobbing will be coming to Manitoba for the very first time on Saturday March 9 from 11:00am to 4:00pm. On that day, hundreds of Manitobans will be BUYcotting (as opposed to boycotting) Chocolatier Constance Popp on 1853 Portage Avenue. They will purchase as many products as possible in order to encourage Constance Popp to increase the visibility of Fair Trade products in her store and to switch her in-store hot chocolate drink to 100% Fair Trade certified. All Manitoba chocolate lovers are invited to Manitoba’s first Carrotmob, as we enjoy speakers, music, ethical chocolate and making a difference in our world. (read more)

  • Are Manitobans Up To The Fair Trade One-Month Challenge?

    Winnipeg, MB. - The Manitoba Council for International Cooperation (MCIC) presents its One-Month Challenge (OMC), where people throughout the province pledge to consume only Fair Trade coffee, tea and chocolate for thirty days, beginning on Valentine’s Day. This year MCIC is also encouraging Manitobans to have a Fair Trade Valentine’s Day, by selling Fair Trade roses, usually not available in Manitoba, and encouraging Manitobans to celebrate the big day with Fair Trade wines and chocolate.     After a successful International Development Week (February 3-9, 2013), during which Food Security issues grabbed headlines, the Manitoba Council for International Cooperation (MCIC) will bring its annual Generating Momentum for Our World: Food For All Middle Years Conference to Minnedosa on Wednesday, February 13, 2013. Sixty students from eleven schools in the Beautiful Plains, Park West, Pine Creek, Rolling River and Turtle River school divisions will be attending a one-day conference at the Minnedosa Community Conference Centre to explore issues around Food Security in our world.
