    As appeals for relief continue, funds from Manitoba are providing food, shelter, health care and support to those most affected by the recent floods in Pakistan.   • Middle Years Students in Brandon Tackle Global Food Crisis

    On Wednesday, April 14 students from the Brandon area will feed their appetite for change at MCIC’s Generating Momentum conference.

    The conference will bring together students Boissevain School, Douglas Elementary, Meadows School, Sioux Valley School, Tanner’s Crossing School and Virden Junior High will come together for a day of interactive learning on global food issues. The purpose of the Generating Momentum for Our World: Appetite for Change conference is to get youth informed and empower them to take action in their schools and communities on these issues.   • Youth Make Fair Trade a Lasting Fashion

    Winnipeg, Man. — MCIC is kicking off International Development Week 2010 by helping young people make a statement with style. The Be Yourself. Be Bold. Be the Change. Fair Trade Fashion Show will feature fair trade and ethical clothing that was made without worker exploitation or child labour. The models will be selected Young Global Citizens in Manitoba who are making our world a better place. This will be a fun fashion event with a live DJ (DJ Dow Jones), but also a learning opportunity that will get youth thinking about where their clothing comes from and who makes it. (read more)

  • Video Campaign Asks Youth to Be the Change

    Winnipeg, Man. — As part of International Development Week 2010, the Manitoba Council for International Cooperation embarked on a province-wide search for Young Global Citizens. There were so many to choose from! We found youth from all over the province who are taking action as global citizens and using their energy and passion to make the world a better place. While some travel overseas to lend a hand, others realize that their everyday actions here in Manitoba have an effect around the world. (read more)
