Voices For Change 2020
Stay tuned as we premiere “Who Does Your Body Belong To” LIVE on February 4th, 2020 during the official launch of International Development Week in Manitoba.
Talented Manitoban high school students from Lord Selkirk Regional Comprehensive Secondary School in Selkirk, and Shaftesbury High School in Winnipeg, weave together a powerful spoken word poem titled “Who Does Your Body Belong To”, in an expressive piece highlighting the power of youth and the ownership of one’s body.
Chosen from a pool of young Manitoban applicants interested in learning about global gender equality and the art of spoken word, Jules Stevenson (Lord Selkirk Regional Comprehensive Secondary School) and Juliana San Buenaventura (Shaftesbury High School) worked with MCIC’s public engagement specialist, Grace Van Mil and professional spoken word artist, Steve Locke, to write and record this collaborative piece.
The students will premiere their poem during the official launch of International Development Week in Manitoba on February 4, 2020.
