In celebration of International Development Week 2010, MCIC embarked on a province-wide search for outstanding Young Global Citizens. There were so many to choose from! We found youth all over the province who are taking action as global citizens and using their energy and passion to make our world a better place. While some travel overseas to lend a hand, others realize that their everyday actions here in Manitoba can have a positive effect around the world.
The following eight youth are between 17 and 29. As young people, they have already managed to make an impact in our world and plan to take on important global issues in the years to come. They inspire us and give us hope for the future. We hope they will do the same for you.

“I Hear Your Voice” Music Video
Eight youth from across Manitoba have come together to create an original song and music video about fair trade and ethical consumption. “I Hear Your Voice” is a message from youth in Canada to young exploited workers in the developing world — those who make the products we buy. The youth ask other Canadians to face the reality and look for alternatives to unfair labour practices.
